Seven Fire teams and five Explorer Posts gathered on Saturday, August 4, for a day of competition and camaraderie.  The 9th Annual Fire and Rescue Challenge took place at Chilhowee Park in Knoxville , Tennessee and offered a chance for area fire and explorer teams to test their skills against one another.

The day was kicked off with a parade of emergency vehicles entering Chilhowee Park and was followed by a welcome from former Knoxville Fire Chief Ed Cureton.  Later in the day, UT Lifestar made a visit to the event and offered tours of the emergency helicopter to the teams and community members in attendance.

The events for the day included a tangled hose event, the fire truck pull, the fire Maze, the endurance challenge and mystery events for both fire and explorer teams.  After a long day of competition, the winners were announced at a banquet for the teams.  The Alcoa Fire Department finished first in the overall Fire category, while the Morristown Explorer Post took home the top spot for the Explorer division.
